To Become a Florida Notary

you must be able to answer "yes" to all of the following questions:

  • Are you 18 years old or older?
  • Are you a legal resident of the State of Florida?
  • Can you read, write, and understand the English language?
  • Have you not been convicted of a felony?

If you answered yes to all of the above, just follow these five simple steps to start the application process. You’ll get everything that’s required to become a Florida notary public.

Step 1:

Take the three-hours Florida notary course free of charge.

All first-time notary applicants are required to take a notary educational course, read Chapter 117, Florida Statutes and submit a signed Certificate of Course Completion when sending the notary application forms to the American Association of Notaries for processing.

The Florida's Governor Office offers a free online notary education course at www.notaries.dos.state.fl.us/ that fulfills these requirements and provides the Certificate of Completion necessary in order to apply for a new Florida notary commission.

Step 2:

Complete the Florida notary Application online

Click on the button above to start the notary application process. The American Association of Notaries is an approved vendor with the Florida’s Governor Office to submit notary applications electronically. Our online notary application wizard will guide you step-by-step through the application process.
