American Association of Notaries- Florida notary public

The following requirements must be met in order for an applicant to be commissioned as a Florida notary public:

The applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
The applicant must be a legal resident of the state of Florida. There is no certain length of time required to establish residency.
You may only be commissioned in your legal name (or a nickname of your legal name, i.e. John William Reynolds or J. W. Reynolds or John W. Reynolds).
If ever convicted of a felony, the applicant must have civil rights restored (note: contact the Governor’s office for possible exceptions).
If not a U.S. citizen, the applicant must present a recorded Declaration of Domicile. If the applicant needs to obtain this form, it is available at the County Clerk’s Office in the county of residence.
Submit an application to be appointed a notary public, and pay a $39.00 state appointment fee. The applicant must take the required Oath of Office and must swear or affirm that they have read the notary laws and will obey them.
First-time notary applicants must take a required three-hour education course on notary law and procedures. §668.50(b), Fla. Stat. available free of charge from the Florida Department of State
Obtain a surety bond in the amount of $7,500, available from the American Association of Notaries.
