To become a remote online notary public in Florida, you must comply with the following requirements:

3- Complete a two-hour online education training course provided by a remote online notary public education provider. You will need the course ‘certificate of completion’ to register as a remote online notary.

4- Contract with a third-party remote online notarization (RON) service provider whose technology complies with Florida remote online notary law.

5- Obtain a $25,000 notary bond and a $25,000 notary errors and omissions (E&O) insurance policy.

6- Submit a notarized RON application form, a RON information form, a copy of your notary commission certificate, notary bond, E/O insurance policy, and RON course certificate of completion, and a $10 registration fee to the Dept. of State.
Steps to Become a Traditional & Remote Online Notary in Florida
Follow the four steps below to become a traditional & remote online notary public in Florida.
Step 1- Start the traditional & remote online application process.

Step 2- Take a three-hour approved traditional notary course
All first-time Florida notary applicants must take an educational notary course and read Chapter 117 of the Florida Statutes. The three-hour notary course is included with the notary package you purchase at no additional cost.
Step 3- Mail your completed notary application to AAN
Once we receive your signed traditional notary application, we will file the application and the $25,000 notary bond with the Department of State. Step 4- Receive your traditional notary commission certificate from AAN
When the Dept. of State approves your traditional notary application, we will send your traditional notary commission certificate, your notary supplies, a $25,000 notary bond, a $25,000 notary errors and omissions insurance policy, “Online Notary Public Information” form, and “Application Registration for Online Notary Public,” along with instructions on how to register as an online notary.
Step 5- Complete a two-hour approved RON training course
Florida State requires all notaries wishing to register as RONs to complete a two-hour RON training course addressing the duties, obligations, and technology requirements for serving as an online notary public. This course is offered by the Florida Land and Title Association.
Step 6- Register as a remote online notary with the Dept. of State
Mail the RON course certificate of completion, notarized “Application Registration for Online Notary Public,” “Online Notary Public information” form, a copy of your notary commission certificate, the $25,000 notary bond, and your notary E/O insurance policy with a $10 registration fee to the Dept. of State.
